UDEROLAL

There is a place exists in Sindh where Muslims and Hindus can pray at same place simultaneously.  Interestingly, this place is not so far and this statement actually cleared after the visit to shrine of    Udero Lal.  A place where still unity, peace and love exists. The shrine of Saint Udero Lal is one of this example. The shrine of Udero Lal is situated at Udero Lal town in Matiyari almost 40 km away from Sanghar district.
The beautiful white dome of shrine was easily seen from distance, the town was full of peace, love and harmony.  The echoes of birds were all displaying a beautiful image. The entrance of the shrine is beautiful and calm. All the way every corner of shrine was giving the message of peace. It has a mosque and temple located at the same courtyard. This shrine is dedicated to Indus river god which has many famous names as Uderolal, Jhulelal, Dhulha lal, Darya lal, Zinda Pir.
This historical place is from Mughal emperor time.  Saint Udero Lal is still remembered by his devotees for his message of love and peace. The saint was also famous for his miracles.  During the visit when asked, from keepers and care takers of the shrine they told that previously saint was born Hindu and was famous by name Udero Lal or Uday Chand.  When he became Muslim his name was Shaikh Tahir.  Udero Lal has followers from both Hindus and Muslims as he promoted the message of love and harmony.  Udero Lal came in Sindh in 7th Hijri.  As the shrine has both mosque and temple simultaneously there are no restrictions for anyone who so ever wants to pray or do worship is allowed.  This shrine is famous for the unity when there is the call of azan in the Mosque then there is no bell rang in temple. Whereas, when there is time of pooja and aarti there is no azan called in Mosque. There is a bell that is rung at the time of pooja.
The last time repairing in this shrine was done in 2005 in which the glass work was done.  This place is the best example of existence of two faiths. The care takers or the keepers of the tomb and shrine are Muslims and some even Hindus.  Both Hindus and Muslims unite on his urs.
The front wall of shrine which is the entrance towards this great saint’s rest place has engraved on the top of wall with the kalima. Along with this great saint his friends are also buried in this shrine. Many people come from long distance rural areas and even his followers come from India to have fulfilled their vows. With all their love and dedication his followers come and do fatiha and asked for their vows and in result of fulfill of their vows his followers always present some gift on the shrine.  There is also a charity box made in 1912 for this darbar.
The building of this shrine witnesses itself that it has been so old as stated from Mughal emperor time. The walls, the courtyard, the tombs all seem very old since the Mughal time period.  There is situated a Dargah in the temple where the Lal Shah sahab meditation day and night are rung.  There is also a tree known as ‘’peelu’’ where the people tether votive threads.  The Jhuley lal is often known and depict to see on pallah fish as riding a horse.
The people there were so devoted when they were coming for the visit to shrine with faith and love towards their saint. When leaving this peaceful shrine, wishes may this peaceful harmony and the values of Sindh dwells alive forever in the hearts of people. This shrine is worth visiting place at least for once.
